In 1979 I was CEO of DCA, Inc. an Atlanta telecommunications company.  The company was floundering.  Desperately, I hired an 'old guy', John McCarley, who once was VP finance for Gulf Oil, as a 'mentor'.  He helped write our first marketing plan, hired our CFO, and steered us into a deal with venture capital that finally took the company public (NYSE) in 1983. 

That is my experience with a mentor. I'd like to do similar things for your enterprise, now that I am the 'old guy'.
